If you’ve lost a tooth in your smile, it not only limits your ability to bite hard foods, but it can also mar your appearance and make you feel awkward in social situations. In a case like this, Dr. Dennis Burrell will often recommend having the tooth restored by a titanium dental implant that is mounted with a porcelain crown.

To do this, your dentist will refer you to an oral surgeon or periodontist to install a titanium abutment into your jawbone. Titanium is known to be biologically safe. In time, it will completely fuse to your existing bone structure, making it as solid as any of your natural teeth.

A hard, plastic, temporary crown will be secured over the titanium abutment to protect it. Once it has fully integrated into the surrounding bone, Dr. Dennis Burrell will go about the process of fitting you for the porcelain crown.

Dr. Dennis Burrell will then make a detailed impression of the abutment and surrounding teeth. This impression will be sent to a dental lab to serve as a guide while the technicians custom craft your porcelain crown.

Once the dental lab technicians have completed the crown, Dr. Dennis Burrell will call you back into our office for a brief, final appointment. During this visit, the temporary crown will be removed and your dentist will glue your permanent crown into place. With the proper care and cleaning, your new smile will last for many years to come.
